Water Heaters

Water heater service.

Heating water can account for up to 20 percent of your average home energy bill. With new green initiatives for energy efficiency, most people are replacing their old water heaters with new, more energy-efficient models. These new water heaters may be more expensive up front but will save you money in the long run.

There are four different types of water heaters:

  • Storage-tank heaters
  • Tankless heaters
  • Hybrid electric heaters
  • Solar water heaters

Storage-Tank Heaters

Storage-tank heaters are basically tall cylinders filled by a cold-water pipe, and water is heated in the tank, then distributed through a hot-water pipe. These are typically fueled by gas and can run off a separate line or your already-established natural gas line. Sometimes you will see these heated by oil or electric, but gas is the most economical way to heat this.

Tankless Heaters

Tankless heaters are sometimes called “instantaneous water heaters” and are often no bigger than a suitcase. They heat only the amount of water needed by an electric coil or natural gas. Tankless heaters have a longer life expectancy and are more energy efficient, but they have a limited flow rate that can be an issue with larger households.

Hybrid Electric Heaters

Hybrid electric heaters are conventional water heaters paired with a heat pump, in which a heat pump is used to heat the water in your tank. These are two to three times more energy efficient than a typical storage-tank heater and cost less to operate. These systems are dependent on the geographical location of your home and the space where they will be installed.

Solar Water Heaters

Solar water heaters are similar to an electric water heater, but instead of using a heat pump to heat the water, solar energy is used. This system works the same to heat the water as a heat pump, by transferring heat and energy to a coil system––using solar energy rather than ground energy. These systems are up to 50 percent more energy efficient than their counterparts but also require a backup system for use on cloudy or high-demand days.

Choosing A Water Heater

Water heaters are sold based on how many gallons they hold. But more importantly, you want to look at the “first-hour rating” for storage-tank water heaters and “gallons-per-minute” rating for tankless. These numbers will give you a better idea of how much hot water you will get within a set amount of time.

The size and type of water heater that will work best for your family can be a complicated decision to make. Contact us or request service online, and one of our certified technicians can tell you what size and type of water heater will best suit your needs.

“We have been doing business with Quality Heating for so long that I can’t remember when we started. The have serviced units at two different homes and two different rentals. Over the years they have replaced three water heaters and installed new heating units and two A/C units in the above mentioned residences. I am a loyal customer and would only switch companies if I didn’t receive the service, quality units and professional installation I expect to receive for the cost quoted me. Obviously since I can’t recall how long we have been doing business with Quality they have supplied all the above and more. Great professional people with quality products, a friendly can do attitude supplied with a smile and a guarantee one can depend on.”

Water Heater Installation in Emmett, ID 83617

“This is a trustable, reliable, and professional company. Our furnace finally went out after 21 years of service – with their sticker still on the faceplate. I called Friday (late night). First thing Saturday morning, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kevin who knew exactly what went wrong. I’m no expert with furnaces, but even I understood what he was talking about. Due to our first-impressions, we also asked about replacing our old setup (heat-pump was 21 years old and water heater was well beyond warranty). These guys completely installed a new furnace, coil, water heater, heat-pump, and thermostat within (no joke) two days. They also made sure we did not go without hot water.
As mentioned above, Kevin returned my call promptly the next day (Saturday). I ended up sending him pictures as some questions I couldn’t answer, and he was quick with being able to determine our furnace failure. We had options by end of day Saturday in terms of getting the furnace fixed and back to operating condition, or replacing it due to its age. Never once did we feel like we were being pushed into a sale or feel like we were being talked down to. This is a family owned business and everyone with the company is very friendly and professional. That small town feel is exactly what we felt and we felt like the company really recognized our needs and how we felt about being without heat.
Having a reliable furnace to get us through another 15 years or so was really important to us. We also wanted something reasonably affordable and installed by licensed and reputable installers. We also wanted to know we could count on Quality Heating and Cooling down the road should the unexpected happen or if we want to add things like a humidifier. Kevin is a vet with this kind of thing (and Aaron is a rock star!) with determining our equipment failure and appropriate resolution, providing multiple options on compatible products, and explaining in in a way that’s understandable (technical jargon as it’s place, and they explained everything clearly to us).
We wish we could give them more than 5 stars, so we’ll instead state that we rate them A+. They were very professional (excellent), they were fast at executing and installing after we made our decision (they installed a new furnace, coil, water heater, and heat-pump in TWO days!), excellent product offerings (superior performance and efficiency), and reputable (BBB reports A+ Rating).
Both Kevin and Aaron are seasoned individuals. I could tell they care about their work and doing not a great job – but a superior job. I could not imagine a scenario where anyone would be disappointed or frustrated with these guys – if you need a company you can trust, depend on, and want that family-oriented friendlies and professionalism, I can definitely attest they did all of that and then some with our family.
Thank you Quality Heating and Air Conditioning for your amazing work!”
